My car won't go into gear. I push in on the button over and over nothing happens.
This has been an on going problem now for the past year, but lately it's really hard getting it to go into drive. Do I need a new gearshift?

 

Do you also have to use the shiftlock override?

 

I'm sorry, but I don't know what the shiftlock even is. What I usually do is just keep putting my foot on the brake peddle and push in the gearshift button. Usually after a dozen or so attempts , it than works and I can than put my car into drive or reverse.
any suggestions? Sheila

 

Look for a button sticking up that says shift lock overide. Push it with the key on and it should come out of gear easy.
