Default Own a damaged 87 760 T, to sell or not to sell, and whats the best older model volvo?

I'm trying to make a decision on what to do with my 87 760 turbo. The good - 130k miles, excellent interior, all electrical works, beautiful paint and trim. The bad - failed head gasket, bad thermostat, fuel pump, and exhaust leak. I could put about $1500 into it if its worth it. or i could sell it and buy another Volvo. Any suggestions? and if I am to sell my current ride, what would be a suggested model and year? any problematic years to look out for? Any help is greatly appreciated!

Are you planning on doing the work yourself...........aka DIY?

Or paying a 2nd party?

I'll be at the least replacing the thermostat, fuel filter and pump myself. But I'm not sure about the head gasket and exhaust leak. I've got an honest mechanic who will come over and basically do it with or show me how free of charge. So it all depends on how difficult the head gasket can be.

Head gasket on that car would probably be the easyest on the market. That may be fun for you. But if you don't have time to full with it, junk it.

Me personally............If I could get a 87 760 turbo up and ruining as a daily back and forth to work/school car for 500-800 bucks I would do it. 1500 or more I would junk it as well.

Well i guess I'll try and fix it myself then! If i end up junking the car, what model and year would you suggest? I'd have around 1500 to spend

For that amount of $$$ you won't get much. If you are talking Volvo, 850 turbo's are fun.

There is another guy on the site that just purchased a 760 turbo. Maybe he would be interested in a few parts.

I just cant see myself scrapping this car! It's only got 130k and beautiful interior/exterior. From what I understand, these cars are suppose to run to 300k+. I'm gonna fix it up. Even if i have to put 1000 into it i think it'd be worth it!

I agree with jones-07. If you are not tired of the car, and things are holding together (things not falling apart), it's definately worth more to you than others. I'd rather put $1,000 into a car I have had, than to go purhcase a car for $1,500 and start dumping money into someone elses neglect.
