Default Replacing a tail light

Hi there,

I am new to the forum with a question. During a rainy day, I got in a car accident and my rear tail light got smashed up good-outer and and dented up interior wise. Can I go buy the part and install it myself or will I need to give to a mechanic? My local one is saying like 300 for parts and labor. I am not a car savvy at all, so I am wondering if anyone has experience with this and any helpful advice. My car is a 1991 Volvo wagon.

Thanks,

You can get used ones through e-bay or auto salvage yards in your area for less than $50 or you may find new copies from mail order shops for less than $70. FCP is a favorite of mine.
Check the vendors at the right side of your screen----->>>

Go here, this link will take you to ebay where you can find a tail light for your wagon...you didn't say which model 740 760 940 960 Wagon???? so you will have to just look for your model wagon here is the link: http://shop.ebay.com/?_from=R40&_trk...All-Categories good luck!!!! By the way it is fairly easy to install yourself, you will just have to remove cover from inside, remove screws that hold light in place, remove the bulb sockets from the tail light....then install new light put screws back and then put your bulb socket back in place as well...pretty easy!!1 good luck

Default Drivers door not always shutting

Hello,

I am so thankful for this forum and all the great advice I am getting! I am repairing my own car. My drivers side door is not always shutting when I go to close the door, and it's getting more difficult to lock. Anyone has this experience and a solution in mind? Again, my car is a 1990 740 volvo wagon. Also, how much is reasonable to pay for a tune up?

Thanks!

I think that this will be due to the some issues with the wiring or the locking system in the door. Though, it will be better to get it checked at the earliest and the cost for th tune up will depend on the problems that requires to be solved.

You should shop around for a mechanic who's familiar with European cars and will take the time to talk to you about your concerns, kind of like your doctor. It's also handy to have their shop not too far from the house.

A little spray lube may take care of your door lock problem when sprayed onto the latch on the door's edge and into the lock cylinder.

when you say not closing, do you mean that when you pull it shut it pops back open? if so then the locking mechanism on the door is sticking and could use some lubricating....if this is what you are talking about open your door and use a heavy duty screwdriver and try pushing on the mechanism and see what happens. please let me know if I am correct in what your talking about concerning your door not closing or staying closed when you go to close it!
