2. what is the W button on the tranny and when do i use it?
3. what is the shift button on the tranny and do i have to use it? i had to press it.....

1. The car might have aftermarket pads on it which are known to squeel. No it is not supposed to do that.
2.The winter button is used when driving in Snow. The car starts off in 3rd gear for more traction.
3.The button is a shiftlock overide. So if you ever step on the brake and it won't come out of park Hold the button down to get it out of park.
4.The normal idle for the car is about 750 RPM
5.Yes aftermarket radios are compatible.

thx for the insight.
this morning i had some problems while starting up the car: i actually had to push the gas pedal a few time to give it some boost while the key was turned on in the ignition, otherwise it wouldnt start. No warning or engine lights, no nothing, it just wouldnt start. Once started, i think it is not performing at 100%..this is only a hunch since it is my first volvo ever. i was thining about a tune up.
How often do I have to change the tranny fluid? i dunno if has even been done, i am 98500 km right now.
And 1 more question..while in park, it idles at 2 lines and a half under 1000 line, whatever that is. It sounds like a diesel engine to me, like a ratatatataatatatatatatatatataatata.....
how loud are they supposed to be?
some of the questions might seem stupid, please bare with me here, i am just a noob that has found a real car.......
thx for your time...

The one by the top of the engine on the right side. Look at the back side of it you should see a plastic peice by where the bolt goes through the middle of the mount. See if the plastic is touching the rubber on the top.
If it is then it is bad.
The lower ones look at and see if they are cracked or touching the sides. Once you look at them you should see what I am talking about.
