I have a 2002 S60 with cluster trouble like others I have read about. Drops dead, pops back on. SRS message appeared. I had a recall update for the limp home mode glitch at146k. Now at 147k transmission began behaving badly, I had a tranny wiz drive it. He felt there were no mechanical issues with it. Felt like it was missing software acclamation or possibly network disfunction through the cluster. Left his yard and within 2 miles didn't shift out of 2nd and just rev'd. Put it in park and shut off tried again. Very little movement so I got it towed vs burning it up. Stealership wants to start with the instrument cluster (because a second use cluster doesn't work) at a castrating $1,400.00 . Has anyone else experianced problems like this after a software upgrade? I'm hoping this isn't a segway into a new tranny.

I do have similar problem but with S60 - 2003. The instrument cluster goes dead and when is alive that SRS airbag message shows up.

Looking for a solution to this problem as well.

sounds like u have more then 1 problems, u need to isolate them first. first a cluster will not give a shifting problem, sound like u may new a tranny. on the other hand, i m kind of confuse of what really is the problem with your cluster?? do you mean you have a srs light on or your cluster just cut out??

 

SRS - airbag service urgent is stuck in the messzge dispaly only. I do not think there is any problem with it just the cluster panel malfunction casuses it to appear there.

My 2003 v70 instrument cluster started to go blank intermittently and then completely died. Dealer told me it needed to be replaced at a cost of $1,500.00. Too much for me so I took off the front cover panel and found that by sqeezing on the top left corner the cluster would turn back on. Most of the time the speedo and tach would not work but the gas guage, lights, blinkers, temp etc would. I am not handy so my buddy took out the cluster and fixed it in an hour. Just needed a thin spacer installed between the rear cover and the circuit board.

Does you have instruction on how to remove the front cover panel so that I can try sqeezing on the top left corner the cluster to see if it solve my problem as well. I have the exact same problem, cluster goes dead, pops back on occasiionally and now shows a SRS fault in the message center

Yes. I also have the same problem with my 02 S60. I'll try that also and see what it does. And I also have a problem with my sunroof. I worked it one day the next it didn't work. All the fuses are good. Note I just got the car it sat for 2 year's. Can someone help me?
