Default S70 Performance Upgrade Options

Looking for opinions on the best performance upgrade for my 2000 S70 GLT SE....

1. Swap turbo and ECM from a T5 model.

OR

2. Buy ipd performance chip and keep my car stock.

I would do a chip, ARD is also a good option from what I've read.

The motors are different, from the GLT to T5.

Yeah, that was my biggest fear was the T5 has a 2.3L and my GLT has the 2.4L. Swapping the bigger turbo seems easy enough but its the underlying/overlooked issues of the swap that worry me.

As long as you get a tune you will have minimal issues. What turbo do you have on there now?

Stock 13T. My theory is to take a 16T and ECM from a T5 and plug onto my GLT. Just not sure if there will be any underlying issues/oversights by doing so. OR, if I'd just get better performance from a chip from ipd and keeping my existing 13T?

You can easily swap out a 16T or even a 15G or any of the TD04HL series except the 19T. 19T needs some milling from what ive been told

Just pull out the CHRA and the compressor housing and swap in the new one..
No need to pull the exhaust side unless you are planning aon changing the flange.

As far as the tune goes....
I have both IPD stage one and a ARD tune.
The ipd is collecting dust in the closet...
The ARD has a smoother boost curve and is more linear through full range.
Lucky from ARD (formerly from IPD) builds your tune to what you need and have. its not a generic tune.
Paid a 3rd of the price and I like it much better.

Just so your clear IPD NOR ARD tunes are "CHIPS" they are flashed software..

Check out the site and email him.... Ardideas.com

Thanks for the advice. I emailed him. I'm trying to learn as much as possible before I commit to any upgrades.
