Unhappy shift lock system faulty?

Need some advice...my 1999 S70 will not start (the engine doesn't turnover), and I am not able to remove the key (it stops turning just shy of the 0 position). Could this be related to the shift lock?

Thanks!

Yes the key not coming out can be related to the shiftlock button not being up all the way.

i know this is an old thread but for anyone searching this forum:

also check to make sure your car is fully in park and the release button hasnt stuck.
its embarassing but i fumbled with my key for 5 minutes until I realized I just needed to pull the release button out!
