Car cut out yesterday after turbo went blood red now struggling to idle ref min

 

what year, model etc? what do you mean "turbo went blood red"? Does the idle change as the engine warms? Does the car run ok in higher RPMs?

Start by checking your intake air tubing from the turbo to the intercooler to the MAF/throttle body. Look for any loose connections or cracks/tears in the tubing, missing or torn vacuum lines ect.

If you were driving hard at the time, quite possible you blew something off in the boosted air path...
