Default Transmission

I have a 2002 V70 T5. Had the transmission rebuilt but when I shift into drive it does not move smoothly forward, instead, it lurches into first gear. I had this problem BEFORE having the transmission rebuilt and thought it would take care of the problem. What else could be causing this?

Thanks

It may be available for a software update.

Thank you, SVTfocuso3,
They did perform the software update but it's still doing it. Volvo said it takes 600 miles for the transmission to "relearn" but it's been longer than that. It's inconsistent, too. Sometimes it does it, sometimes it doesn't.

Go for a long trip to get rid of your problem.

Thanks, Pitbull. I'll let the forum know the outcome.

A long trip? I have never heard of this, but if they reset the adaptives and drove it according to a "trip" schedule by Volvo, then you have other concerns.

SVTfocus03 - Thanks for you reply. You sound like a mechanic or an experienced owner. Do you have any other suggestions or ideas of what might be causing this? This seems to have the mechanics around here stumped. On another forum they suggested I adjust the handbreak. Does that makes sense?
