All,

I need to replace my transmission on my 2006 XC90 v8. It has about 140k miles. Would you recommend using

1. a general auto repair shop that specializes in Volvo (former dealer techs, Volvos are only loaner cars, 95% of all cars in the lot are Volvos), OR
2. a transmission specialist shop that works on all makes and models.

I realize that this forum may be biased, but if you could provide the reasons for your recommendation, that would be very helpful.
