My transmission jolts are now much less severe and much less frequent after a transmission software upgrade, neutral control disabling and a transmission fluid flush. My remaining fluid I will flush next week. The occasional flare i get now, when my engine revs out for no reason while my transmission hovers on neutral feels to me like the transmission and the throttle not talking to each other properly. Do i need to get some software for my TCM upgraded? Is it possible of feasible to have the whole onboard computer formatted and start from scratch? Or is it now most likely just a mechanical problem? I hope its not the Valve body because it cost nearly as much as a whole new tranny. Any other things to try? Solenoids?

flares are normally between 2nd and 3rd and mostly when its hot.
I have the "Emmissions Service Required" and "Transmission Service Required" messages.

I would have the Dealer see if there is any upgrades avalible for your car.

 

Spoke to Volvo today. All my software is up-to-date.

I'm having an oil leak looked at and a tranny top up flush next week so i guess i'll wait and see how that goes. Is there anything worth checking while the tranny is out? (its coming out to fix the leak)

 

Not really. They won't open the transmission even if you asked.

The only internal parts they replace are the Valve Body and S1&S2 soleniods.
