hi everyone! new to the forum with a couple of issues.....

yeah.....these transmission are terrible. (T5 auto). last week i had my mechanic replace the old POS transmission with a used (35K) transmission. for a few days it was running fine, then suddenly it threw codes and went into limp mode (only 2nd and 4th gear usable). today mechanic replaced the speed sensor and so far it doesnt go into limp mode, but throws the following codes

TCM-0082
TCM-001F
(both are VSS codes)

ECM-530D

in frustration my mechanic took the car to a dealer where they hooked it up, told us the codes charged us $166. they also told us that they cant "clear" the codes and that the TCM has to "match" the car and that i need a NEW transmission for $6000.

the car shifts fine now, but throws codes after every restart. shutting down the car removes the code/transmission service light from the dash, but throws again after less than a minute of driving time.

what are some possible solutions? is this common when swapping transmissions? is the dealer correct or just trying to scam me for 6K?

Unfortunately, they are right, but I thought they just had to reprogram the TCM to work with the transmission. They would have to do something like that if they put a new unit in won't they?
