Trying to put a V8 in my V70
i have a old truck that has been in the woods for bout 2 years and it was running when parked and i have my volvo v70 from 2001 and the trans wont come out of sec gear and its in "limp mode" and i dont know how to fix that so i looked at the truck and my volvo and i want to put the V8 and the trans out of the truck in my volvo and i am wanting to see if that is even a thing to be done or take the motor out of the truck without the trans and get the stock volvo trans from ebay and if i do that will a V8 even bolt up to that trans...i still have the motor for the volvo and it has 126.000 miles on it and the truck has 165.000 on it i want the sound and the power from the V8..i know it can be done bc i seen a dude that put a LS motor in his v70 but had no vid on how he built his setup and i just need some help on what i need to get started.evey time i look up this build idea it i come up empty handed so any and all ideas are welcome it is a inline5 it is FWD
like do i need to change eveything under the car to make it hold up.............
any help is needed

Just thinking here.....
IF you could get a decent V8 to bolt to the volvo trans I can't see any way you'd get the motor in the engine bay. Also, that trans mission would be ground to bits by anything much over 300 horse. Then there's the weight on the front suspension -really need to totally redo that. brakes too. Or convert to RWD- you're going to need to create a trans/drive shaft tunnel and space for a diff. The torque would play hell with the body, especially after you compromised it's rigidity with the tunnel mod.
Either way, the cost is going to be considerable.
A much cheaper, faster, and better to drive result would - in my mind (as it is) - just to pull the engine buy a bunch of parts and make it a twin turbo. It'll have plenty of pep and drive better.

considering your V70 is FWD, doing a motor/transmission swap would need a similar set up from another car where you'd install the entire package on the subframe. For that effort, it would be easier to fix the existing problem. If you had a RWD Volvo like a 200/700/900 series, there are kits available for V8 swaps (check out jagsthatrun.com). If you are intrigued by donf's idea of convering to RWD, and have serious tools/skills, find a donor 700/900 and swap in the floor pan and rear suspension etc.
As to your current transmission issue, sounds like you have some issues with the solenoid/valve body. Pretty sure you can remove the valve body and replace the solenoids w/o removing the transmission
