Default Turbo's as opposed to fuel economy and engine wear.

I am assuming that a Turbo will increase wear on an engine and consume more fuel. Is that assumption correct?

The turbo uses a little more gas.The engines will last about the same time.

That's only half true... there are plenty of cases where a turbocharged variant of an engine get's better gas milage than it's NA twin. Most Turbo-diesel trucks get better gas milage than non-turbo versions. Even old Turbo-diesel volvos average a better fuel economy than the NA diesels. My friends HIGHLY modified (t3/t4 50trim, biggie fuel system, huge FMIC) gets 47mpg in mixed driving conditions.

I agree with alecw81. I drive a C-70 with the high pressure turbo. I run Continental Conti Contacts 215 55 16 @ 32psi.. In addition I use Bosch platinum plugs gapped a tad wider than stock. Castrol synthetic oil in the crank case. At an indicated 75 MPH I recently obtained better than 30 MPG. That's not bad for a heavy auto!

Platinum Plugs are less than ideal for turbocharged vehicles. Good old NGK Coppers will yield better performance (and cost a LOT less) If you must have bling bling plugs then go with the iridiums.

For better than 20 years I have used Bosch platinum plugs. I have them currently in German, Swedish, Japanese, and British autos. After running SCCA events with a Hartge BMW and using literally every plug known to mankind I can speak with authority regarding Bosch platinum plugs. The mistake many make with them is gapping them to factory specs.................

.15 wider than spec. I use the single electrode plug............not the Bosch double or quad plug. If running a high speed event you can go to .20 wider........you need a good spark.
