Universal Cats???/

Default Universal Cats???/

have a 2004 S60 that needs a new cat. engine light on did not pass inspection. Was told that a universal cat could be used. Then hear that for the Volvo the universal can not be used..Which is it

Universal cats can be used as long as the cat will fit. I don't know about your particular car; some late model cars have a cat built into the header pipes and a universal just won't get it. Try eBay and see if you can find an aftermarket one for cheap.

u can use a universal cat. but chances are u may need to cut & weld the OEM pipe, w/that u have 2 problems. 1) the weld & the cat. don't last very long, then u may need to replace it again later. 2) since it is not a OEM cat. the reading may be different @ the rear o2 sensor, it may still trigger the check engine light.
