Unhappy v70 emission fault ?

hi - just bought a 2001 V70 2.4 T - today the car cut out a few times and now the engine/emission light is displayed and the message reads emission system service required - is this serious ? If so may attempt to get my old car back from the dealer

Sounds like you had a misfire and the ECM is warning you to get it repaired before you cause catalyst damage. It could be EVAP related but then you shouldn't of had any running issues that you noticed.

If you are wanting to repair it yourself the things to check would be #1 check for oil contamination from the oil cap seal, #2 check the ignition coils really close for cracks along the boot. #3 make sure it has Volvo spark plugs.

Talking emission fault

Hi - thanks for your info - I attempted to drive back to the garage but it was just too bad so I called the AA - they turned up and diagnosed a fault on the mass airflow sensor - replaced and now running perfectly - we like a happy ending !!!!!!!!!

Good to hear you didn't have to get rid of your Volvo
