940 Turbo Emission problems?
I have a 1991 940 Turbo, I ran into a big problem. The engine was sputtering and not running very well, I was told it sounded as if the catalytic converter needed to be replaced, so i replaced it. It ran ok for about 1-2 weeks. and now its doing it again, but this time when it reaches around the 2 mile mark while driving, it will sputter for a few min, i lose all power, usually not being able to go over 40 mph, and will eventually stop running. The odd part is, the front exaust manifold that is connected to the turbo, heats up ALOT when this happens and glows red from the heat. It does it at about the same time every time, around 2 miles which is the point that the engine gets "warm". Could it be the Oxygen Sensor? Could it be the Catylitic Converter again stopped up? Or something im missing with the turbo? Any and all suggestions are greatly appreciated.

RE: 940 Turbo Emission problems?
Im thinking you have another problem you need to address first that is causing this. You need to inspect all your intake intake hoses for leaks. Is your check engine light on?I forget i think when the exhaust gets cherry red like that it is running very lean.I would check for that first. If you have a volt meter you can check your o2 sensor your self.Ground the ground side of your meter and put the positive side on the green wire from the o2 sensor. And watch for the meter to go from 0 volts to 1 volt it should fluctiate fast.If it does it working normaly.
