V90 wiper issue diagnosed as clock spring issue...
Hi,
My 2017 v90 cross country has had an issue with the wipers the last few weeks.
Auto wiper icon would switch off without me pressing it, when I did disengage it the wipers would continue to work and a wiper malfunction warning was popping up on the dash from time to time.
So I took it to main dealer, they ran diagnostic and told it was lever hub and clock spring error found. They quoted 525 to repair/replace the part. I was shocked so declined.
Got the car back yesterday afternoon and drove home, and did 50km today and the issue seems to have magically disappeared.
I can only assume the diagnostic included a software update or reset that resolved it
My problem is how did the dealer not know this and still try extract over 500 euro from me?
I'm gonna wait for a few days to see if the issue resurfaces but if not I'm going to question the dealer about it.
Any thoughts on this?
Thanks.

the clockspring is just an electrical connector that allow the wheel to turn while maintaining connections to the wheel's switches and buttons. Sounds like you have an intermittant connection issue - perhaps they resecured something that closed a gap etc. As you noted, just wait and see if it returns.
