Volvo 240 no spark

Volvo 240 no spark
I have a 1991 240 w/2.3L Auto.
It just died. Checked with circut tester and foundNO spark coming out of coil.
With ignitionON i get juice at positive and negitiveterminals, but none out of
the top of the coil. It's the same even when i crank it.
I replaced the coil, but that didn't change anything.
Anyone got any ideas?...thanks...Pipa

RE: Volvo 240 no spark
Try pulling off the distributor cap. Then crank it again. If the rotor does not rotate, most likely you need a new timing belt. Need to pull the plastic cover off to see if it shredded the belt.
That involves pulling the fan and related pulleys off, but it's a relatively easy thing to replace if you take your time and have the right tools. During reassembly, make certain you get the timing marks aligned properly (both the top pulley and bottom crankshaft pulley have marks) before you button it back up.
I hope this helps you out.
