Problem getting spark in 1992 Volvo 240
I have imported my 1992 Volvo 240 to the UK. Servicing it here has proven difficult as my car was manufactured for the North American market. Because of this service centers have been unable to connect my car to a scope to diagnose problems because my car is speaking 'American' and their scope only speaks 'European'. There have also been problems getting spare parts as some parts don't exist on the European market for cars manufactured for North America. Ironically this has meant importing parts from the US to service a European car that is in Europe!
Last week my car died on the move, it sputtered, all the hazard lights came up on the dash, they flickered, dimmed and then the car died. The mechanic is having difficulty diagnosing the problem but said that there is no spark and no signal to the flywheel. Is there something that would be less than obvious causing the problem? Note: it has a new battery and alternator and is kept in good repair. Any advice would be greatly appreciated!
