Volvo B230FT to B230M
I have a Volvo Penta 4 cylinder engine B230 on my boat with a bad head and piston. I purchased a used Volvo B230ft for parts and found it to be in great shape, it has the distributor on the head, mine has it on the block. Can that engine be modified by replacing the FI with my carburetors and still use the distributor on the head? All else seems like it would interchange, except for fuel pump which I can go to an electric one I assume... Not being a mechanic but retired and with more time than money, is this to big a job for me to tackle, it seems simple on the outside? I have left over turbo parts if anybody needs them...
Thank you very much

You migt be able to make it work. But you will have to put your cam in the turbo engine. The Dist won't work either.Your dist has a module in it the one on the head should only be for spark distribution.
But other than that it should work.
