I like the Volvo Navigation Sytem, but the safety lockout of most of the features while the vehicle is moving is very unhandy.

While I understand that Volvo does not want the driver distracted by manipulating the GPS while on the move, there is no reason the passenger shouldn't use the system to set a new destination, search for a gas station or restuarant, change the route, etc.

Is there a way to unlock the system to allow the passenger full access control while the vehicle is in motion?

 

No. How would the car know that a passenger is operating the system? Just a second or two of distracted time behind the wheel can kill you.
