Volvo S60 HU-803. Thermal cutout happens too soon?
When I first got my S60T5 (recently) which had the premium package audio system, the first issue I had with it was the speakers cutting out when the music was loud. I researched and found that it was the thermal cutout kicking in, but I don't know how long it takes based on how loud the music is for it to cut out.
I listen to my music on long drives with the volume just.. Loud. Not ear splitting, just loud enough to feel the bass a little bit, and after 20-30 minutes my speakers start to cut out. Is it normal for this to happen in that amount of time without the music blasting?
I believe the previous owner of my car installed after marker speakers in the back. When I open my trunk and look inside, under my rear dash are two speakers (they appear to be 6-8 inch, and I'm assuming they are small subs/mid range) and the wires are exposed. Could it be that these speakers don't have the proper amount of ohms, so it could be working my amp too hard causing the thermal cut off to engage too soon?
I'm having idle thoughts of installing a sub and amp for my trunk, so maybe I can direct all the bass to the sub with it's own amp so my stock speakers don't work so hard and overheat, but right now that would just be guess work.
Thanks in advance for the help.
