I have reading and hearing rumors that the new Volvo R is just a styling package? They have cut out the performance? Can you no longer order a S60 R and get 300 HP? PLEASE someone tell me this is not true!

 

Yes That is true.

The new thing is "R-design"

It is more of a style thing now. If you are lucky, youcanprobablyfind a new07 "R" some where.

 

I know where I can buy 3 2004 R's one has 95,000 one has 12,000 and one has 9000 and this one was imported buy the owner, he went to the factory and picked it up. There is also a 2005 with 6000 miles. I have been going crazy trying to decide if I should buy one of these but I "thought" I could always order a new R but it sounds like it woul not be even close to the same car.

 

With the current sales & financial status of the Big-3, Ford may let Volvo go in which case Volvo could once return to their own and regenerate the true Rs. BTW, unlike other mfgs’ R, which seems to stand for Racing (I know I am a J@p but let’s leave it for now), Volvo’s R seems to stand for Refinement. Just a quote I read somewhere so they could have been BSsing me.

If this does not happen in the next 1-2 years, modders would be making quite a bit of profit. And of course, the price on the previous years’ R models will skyrocket.

Oh Baby do I ever wait for the day Volvo can put something like twin turbos and 450 hp in an R. Give the elitist German engineers car buyers a stroke and the rest of world in shock saying "Was that a Volvo"?

 

i love when people see me driving now and say "oh $hit thats a volvo?" i just don't have any real power yet and i still have to shake some gremlins out before that can even happen.

I would assume the standard 300hp/tq, AWD (maybe), better suspension, and some cool interior which sets itself from the base models (which you are doing right now).

 

wow, i bet it's really hard to get 300WHP out of this car without digging into the internals and having all the bolt-ons you can get.

i won't be digging into this engine without a factory service manual i can refer to....time to buy some VADAS DVDs

 

Yeah I think tech said the the engines are good up to 300hp at the crank..not the wheels (unless I heard wrong).

Yep...Fored internals, better headgasket, SS valves, and a go sized turbo like the 18T or 19T ar like 20psi. you would have like 330+whp

 

yea its gone they said it was not selling it was a lil high priced for what you were getting ..the wrx sti and evo were out and alot cheaper

Yeah my dad has an 07 V70 R and it is pretty damn awsome. To bad it is not a stick, and I wish it had LSD.
