Volvo reliability
Hi all,
im currently on the cusp of purchasing a new Volvo V60, however a number of colleagues have all mentioned reliability issues and parts being very expensive.
id be interested to have your take on it considering you actually own one.
Have you spent a number of times on the side of the motorway or is it BS
Thanks.

That's kinda 1960's talk there. All European cars are hard to work on, parts are expensive, and the cars are fragile.
Bet you a left nut that the people telling you that have never owned a Volvo. It's usually something like "Well, my wife's friend's cousin's boyfriend had one and it never ran. He had to take out a second mortgage to replace a headlight."
I've owned 3, extremely well built. Only time one stranded me was when a mechanic forgot to do something (I forget what) and it died ion my son. My S700 went close to 300,000 miles and ran great. My S80 is still reliable at 100,000.
Conversely, my wifes MDX HAS left us stranded at least 5 times. The leather is poorer quality, thrim breaks at an alarming rate.Yet most people wil brag about Honda quality.
Complex cars break, Volvos are very complex, both in feature count and tech features. They light up CELs and warning lights like a Christmas tree, but almost always keep running.
The MDX is going bye bye soon, looking at an XC60 or 90 for her. (OK we had an XC90 for a short while in 2005 and sold it but not because it wasn't a good car. It just didn't fit our needs at the time)

I've had my Volvo V60 for a while now, and I can say that reliability has been quite good. While I haven't had any major issues, it's essential to stay on top of regular maintenance to keep it running smoothly.
Regarding parts and expenses, it's true that Volvo parts can be on the pricier side compared to some other brands, but the quality often justifies the cost. Plus, having a trusted mechanic or dealer nearby can help with maintenance and costs.
Ultimately, it's a personal choice, and I recommend checking out the Volvo V60 and discussing your concerns with a local financial consultant. They can provide insights into your financing options and help you make an informed decision.
