Hey everyone. got a little issue where I cant start my car
I drove home last night, this morning my car was dead. I tried to jump start with my portable jump start kit, did not start
charged battery (580CCA) to 12 volts. stood by for 2 hours. battery dropped to 11.7 volts and held. I placed in car. car did not start battery the dropped to 8 volts after turn over the key.
I repeated above and cleaned my terminals, they were pretty grungy. put battery in again and lights came on. turned key over all lights turn off and car lost power again. this time battery was left with 9-10 volts, could someone let me know please what the issue may be and I how I can resolve?

(note: each time I turn the key over, i here a clicking sound. clicks 3 times before it does not have enough power to even do this)

 

Have you tried checking the voltage WHILE attempting to start the car?
At any rate, I'd put 10 bucks on a dead battery but I guess you could clean the terminals and even check your cables for piece of mind.
How old is the battery? (They tend to die at 3 or 4 years anyway)
Where do you live? (Extreme hot summers and cold winters shorten their lives)

Some time back I started making little "Battery Change Stickers" - similar to oil change stickers - out of packing tape and a Sanford Sharpy. 36 months and I get a new battery. Have I replaced batteris w/ some life left in them? Yeah, I'm sure I have. Have I been stranded (and more importantly, were my kids stranded or my wife)? No.

Worth every penny.
