I'm considering purchasing a new 2022 XC60 T8 recharge hybrid in the Spring/Summer and haven't been able to find any information about the anticipated life expectancy of the battery pack powering the rear wheels and the attendant cost of replacing it. Just trying to gather as much information on this as I can.

I think the car is too new to get a sense of battery durability specifc to Volvo but it does look like the factory warranty is 8 years for the battery pack (if you are concerned, you can consider an extended warranty). Most similar hybrid models typically go 10+ years. Note for pure EVs, the battery durabilty is measured in recharge cycles - as the battery ages it loses its ability to get back to full charge (meaning your range starts dropping). For hybrids, the batteries are protected by the software which avoids fully draining and over charging the battery.

 

Yeah, the battery is covered by a longer warranty. Cost to replace is currently around $14000 for the part alone. But that would likely be different say, 10 or 12 years from now.
