Hey guys I have a volvo xc90 06 and while it was at the mechanics getting a leak fixed among other things the battery died and it was replaced, once I got my car back the gear didn't shift out of park I was told it lost its memory amoung other electronic functions which are showing no communication low signal and also no signal my question is how do I reset the memory for the gear box can I disconnect the battery and then reconnect to retrain the memory if that makes sense. New to the volvo bought it 5 months ago and have had such a headache with it please help me

 

Sorry for your troubles and will be glad to help - but I'm having a hard time understanding what's wrong with your car. "Lost it's memory" does not happen when you change a battery. (well you do lose your auto up function on the front windows that simply needs to be reset)

Is your problem you can't get the car out of park? If so how are you driving the car? On some cars the shift **** will get pulled up slightly, and prevent the shifter from moving normally out of park. Try wacking the shift **** with the palm of your hand to see if it pushes down. (if getting the shifter out of park is your problem)

 

I read you need to disconnect neg. 1st then pos. 2nd, go turn the key to II position then connect pos. then connect neg. It is supposed to save memory and go back to normal.
