Default Volvos to stay away from

I am the proud? owner of a 99 s80. However, after snooping around here and talking to a mechanic friend of mine, apparently that is not one of the best Volvos to have.
My question is is there any other year/model combinations that one should definately stay away from?

99 S70's any model with the ETM issues.

I fixed my ETM issue, and I like my car though.

This will probably make me look like a total idiot, ut what is an ETM? I am going to assume for a minute that it means something like Engine TransMission or Electronic TransMission.
My car has 109,000 miles on it, and the transmission fluid is still clear and red. No discoloration or burnt smell. Does this mean I will probably evade the ETM trouble?

99 s80's were the worst year for that model, 2001 was when they got good! plus volvo has the safest car reputation...

Personally,I would avoid any car made after 1998 ....since ford took over...
any semblence to a quality product is purely coincidental! They are living off of Volvo's excellent reputation.Considering what one would have to pay for a new "Volvo" it isnt worth it.You are really buying a glorified friggin ford...I absolutely Love my 1989 Volvo 240DL!!!! If it ever dies for any reason I will surely find another 240 as these are the most reliable Volvos ever made.

ETM = Electronic Throttle Module, on your dashboard a idiot light will show up when it goes bad. The light will read ETS = Electronic Throttle system.

The only way to fix the problem is to go to a VOLVO dealer. Since Volvo is the only one that can fix it. It will cost around $1k to replace, unless they will honor some extended warranty people have been talking about.

Volvo is warranting the module for 10 years/200,000 miles. The only problem is that they sometimes replace the defective module with one of the same design and it will fail also. BJ
