What the heck is a 1987 Volvo 780?
I have a change to pick up a 1987 Volvo 780 from a friends mom.
I have know idea what its was and trying to do some research on i. I think it's a 2 door coupe?
What family would it belong to in this forums? 740-760-850?
I lost about what to look for as far as maint issues.
Been a Benz & Bimmer guy most of my like!
Thanks..

I am not certain, but I think it's bascially a 2 door version of the 760. I think I read somewhere that they are a maintenance pain in the butt. Most parts for them are very hard to find. But they are very rare cars. Very few of them made. If you google volvo 780 you will get some information about them.
Check out this site and it confirms what I thought was the case:

They are nice cars. It was custom designed and built by Carrozzeria Bertone in Italia, hence the name 780 Bertone.
As Jim mentioned, they are pretty rare cars. They came in a non turbo (V6) and turbo (I4), but all had Auto-Transmissions.
I would stay away from the V6 models for they were not the better engines Volvo putt out. The I4 is a B230FT, which is a very good motor.
