I suggest you just call your Volvo dealer.

 

It is located under the hood on the metal plate with the Vin# it will be a 4 digit code. Like 3960.
The paint code is the 3 digit code.

 

3rd digit, is the exterior paint color, thanks! what about the interior color? what digit is that? i have the silver color paint. my interior is grey/dark grey colored. BASICALLY i want to purchase the cargo cover from vlvworld.com and don't know what color i should get. they seem to offer several that might be right. Much appreciated Tech!

was looking for the cargo cover on my 96 850glt wagon, to cover stereo components. i went to the dealer, they told me what colors were made, came out to look at the car, and told me what color would match the interior. if you're getting it to conceal valuables (stereo equipment), instead of just whenever you just want to hide something, i would suggest getting black, esp if you have tinted windows. my car's interior is a cream or tan color, and i just got the matching cover. at $200, i *almost* wish i got the black, since the tint doesnt really help conceal the inside of the car, with the tan. my wife's car, with a charcoal/grey interior, has the same lvl of tint from the same shop, and hers looks so much darker, and actually more difficult to see the inside.
