Default white smoke from exhaust

I have a 2001 s40. It started white smoking and then it died. I was wondering what I need to look for.

Could you get it started again? How much smoke? Enough to choke a small village or just one room?

Yes it started back like two times. And it was a lot of smoke. Now it will not start back.

It's possible that your piston is flooded out or something if you got a lot of coolant on top of the piston. My guess would be that you BLEW a head gasket. I assume it still cranks. You can pull the plugs out, crank it and see if coolant squarts out. Time to have it towed to a shop for a good check out.

White smoke almost always means coolant is leaking into the combustion chambers. Head gasket blown, or worse a cracked block. Don't dirve the car even if you get it started until the problem is diagnosed and fixed.

Don't let it sit to long it can lock up the block. Turn it over ever once in a while till you get it fixed.

Agree that it's probably a bad head gasket. Don't drive it any more or you can ruin the engine. Tow it to a repair shop. Head gasket resealing is not too big a deal.
