wiring harness issue

ok, i was told that certain year volvos had a wiring harness problem,i.e. insultion on wires cracking and falling apart,,urban myth,?or true?Thanks in advance

The guy I bought my 850 from said the same thing. I believe he said it was the older ones.

I believe it is on the older 240's.....

I think it is ~mid to late 80's?

The 740's had the same problem but it was up to like 87 or so.

Dads 264 (81 ?) had this problem, i put it down to age.
Insulation was cracking and fell of if you touched it.
Had to redo the whole engine loom.....
