XC90 Break
I have a 2007 XC90 AWD 4.4L that I will be replacing the front pads and rotors. The dealer is telling me that I should only use Volvo parts but $500 is well $500. Has anyone had any problems with a break job from like midas or any other place like that?
There are aftermarket brakes that will work, I just can't make a recommendation based on experience since I install Volvo parts. If you go aftermarket, just don't get the cheapest ones available. There is a reason some brake pads are $30 and others are $100.
The best brake pad I have ever installed is Performance Friction / Carbon Metallic brand . They are available at O' Reilly Auto Parts stores. You can Google the company to see if they are available for this vehicle , I would prefer turning ( resurfacing) the rotors as long as they stay within the min. limits instead of replacing them .
BTW... consider exactly what are you saving by price shopping . You are purchasing a product that is going to stop your vehicle . How much is that event worth ?
