Default XC90 CEM Replacement Help...

Hello -

I'm new to the forum and this is my first post.

My wife and I bought a 2011 XC90 about a month ago and within a week began having electrical problems during rainstorms. On three separate occasions, the car failed to start and left my wife and son stranded. The dealer we purchased the car from twice sent it to the local Volvo dealership and they were unable to diagnose the issue correctly. Thanks to this forum I found the cause of the issue was moisture getting to the CEM as several others explained similar situations.

After having the car towed last Friday following the third episode, I emailed the Volvo service team information on the CEM issues with XC90s along with some videos that demonstrated how to replace it. Not surprisingly, they have now diagnosed the problem correctly and the dealer is covering the cost of the repairs.

We now have to decide if we should keep the XC90 or return it to the dealer. My wife loves this car but we don't want to keep it if there is high probability that water will continue to make it's way in and create similar problems in the future.

The dealer has offered to guarantee the work (which includes improving the seals) for one year if we choose to keep the car.

I'm hoping someone here who has had a similar fix can tell me if it has it held up or if you ran into more of the same problems?

Thanks in advance.
