Default EST Intake II

Got my EST intake for my 1999 s70 awd.

Yeah I know it isn't much. But it sure does look better then stock.

And yeah I know I wont gain much Hp if any with this setup and that I am sucking in hot air because the heatshield provided doesn't provided all around sheilding.

I will do a writeup on how to install it as well and post it with the rest of my Moderator Writeups.

Nice build quality from looking at it. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QKi-kQcFFRc

how do you like it? I installed mine two weeks ago. I love the sound from it, just wish I had a manual trans. Power isnt too noticeable but does make for a nice intake.

Wow the intake sounds even more agressive then when I just slapped a K&N cone filter on the end of my MAF without a heatshield. I know there is no difference other then the EAT heatshield, but man does it sound mean.

I have an EST grille. I love it. Yeah it isn't the best. But it is a nice grille.

IPD makes a nice grille. It is all metal, very nice. I had one on my 850 and loved it.

When you put the K&N cone on there, was there a noticable diff in sound or power?

Oh yeah big difference in sound. Sounded like what it does now actually. I really wanted the heatsheild and I don't have any fabbing skills or the tools to fab with thusly I got this for my birthday. Which is today!!! Performance not really. Maybe a slight throttle response.

LOL do you know that you have to take the MAF out of the upper part of the air box? Do you know that the screws holding it in place are TORX screws, T25 to be exact.

Well the EST intakes are for the "TURBO" models only.

You could slap a K&N cone filter on the end of your MAF and build your own custom heatshield.

---------------------

Are you talking about buying a turbo model S70 and or trying to piece together a turbo kit for your S70?

HAHA

1. Turbo kits for Volvo's do not exist. Except for already turbocharged Volvo's.

2. If you want to turbo your NA you will need... Also this is just an idea of what you would need.

a. Turbo
b. Intercooler
c. Intercooler hardpipes
d. Turbo hoses
e. Vaccum lines
f. Downpipe
g. Catback system
h. Tuning (ECU tuning and dyno time) This is one of the biggest and most important part of the upgrade.
i. Etc... (Injectors, etc...)

You are looking at 3 grand plus for all this. Also that doesn't include labor. I seriously suggest you just sell your NA and buy an already turbocharged Volvo. Then upgrade that.

s70 is right, you're going to spend almost what the car's valued at just to have it running turbo...just get an already turbo charged model.

why didn't you leave the bottom of the stock air box in there?
Then you could make it almost totally sealed with a little weather stripping.
