Default RE: EST Intake II

the whole point in the intake is to let more air in, with the filter comes a heat sheild, why would we get the filter and leave the bottom of the airbox in there? then there would be no point for the filter....

why didn't you leave the bottom of the stock air box in there?
Then you could make it almost totally sealed with a little weather stripping.
Matbe if you would take a look at the design you would clearly see why. Obviously you didn't and thusly made a stupid comment.

With the EST intake system there is no room to leave the lower portion of the OEM airbox. Trust me if you wanted to keep the lower portion much modification of the bottom portion of the airbox would be needed. Not to mention that the MAF goes through the EST heatshield and if the airbox was there as well it would hardly go to the end of the hole and even stock it doesn't stick out of the OEM opening in the airbox. Thusly not leaving anything for the airfilter to be attached to.

Also since we are running a MAF it regulates how much air to take in. So adding an intake system doesn't allow the car to suck in more air. Might be a better filter and all but the MAF still regulates how much air the car takes in.
