exhaust question and windows
yo,
my quetion is about my 99 c70.... some local shop said he can put in fatter pipes and a high flow muffler for 180.... which seems really cheap... he never saw the car too...i told him it was a volvo but he didnt flinch....i looked underneeth and found the giant muffler between the two axles... would it be a down grade to have this guy do it?
what do u guys think....
also whats the estimate on fixing or adjusting both windows if they are not set properly?
thanks
akg

First off is your C70 turboed? Secondly if not what size pipe was he going to use and what was it made out of? Also can he mandrel bend pipes?
If you are turboed, 3" downpipe to a 2.5" catback system with free flowing muffler like Magnaflow and a Hi-flow CAT.
If your not turboed then 2.25" to 2.5" catback system with Magnaflow muffler.
MAKE SURE HE CAN MANDREL BEND IN ANY EVENT. Also ask what type pipe he is using, the material it is made from.
Because my 1995 850 n/a had a catback system on it 2.5" not SS and with a Magnaflow muffler for $320, and it wasn't mandrel bent but crushbent which isn't as good.

Def. what s70driver said, u need to find out what manufacturer muffler/cat hes giving u, and the matrial. Also if its emission compliant (at least for most areas). That sounds way cheap, as in too cheap.
sadly here is the deal
right before i had the car shipped to me.... the lock acuators on both doors went out.... so the dealer had them fixed by a "get er done" mechanic he ripped a lot up in the door panels and basically took it all apart even disassembling windows ... when he tried to put them back on they did not seal properly... so when i hit 75 mph+ i hear a lot of air comes in and sometimes even whistling which is vvery anoying seeing i put about 250 miles just on the weekends in high speed highway travel...
so what are quotes or estimates to fix
i have had them from
100 to 500
i dont know who to believe
thanks and cheers

For the window estimate I would guess about in the middle. It could take from 1 Hour for both but up to 4 hours to get them adjusted properly. Try to find a Dealer near you. Then try to look and see if they do a lot of convertable work. You want someone that knows what they are doing to work on them.

FYI S70driver. All the C70's are turbo cars. They were not avalible in Non-Turbo. (Atleast here in the U.S.)

Ok then do what I said then for the turbo version.

No it is still the same setup. A little easier to adjust the windows though but still a pain.
I had spent Over half a day on one car adjusting the windows before they were right.

so please what should i expect as a final estimation on a qoute... a friend of mine who has a luxory body shop said 100 bucks even both sides, do u think he is misinformed?
thanks
thanks
See if he has ever done one before. If not then make sure he will not raise the price if it takes longer.
Most dealers charge 1 to 11/2 hours per door to adjust.
