RE: Intake-
Yeah you can hook that up. If there are any tubes going into or out of your air box your going to have to figure out how to hook them up to the new pipe and if the new pipe has holes in it for tubes and sensors etc... and you can't use them your going to have to cap them some how.
Also your going to have to route the new intake to either the back of the front bumper or to the grille area in the engine bay.
Actually the stock intake on our Volvo's is the best setup for our Volvo's. No one makes an intake system that is better.
Also it will be different in every situation if you gain or loose power. Dyno before and then dyno after to see if you gained or lost. That is the only way to find out.

Unless you are talking about the S70 or 940 models, this is not true. At least for S60's, especially R's. The stock intake box is extremely restrictive.Just about anything you can do to open it up and help them breathe is a plus.

However when it comes to heatsoak the stock intake is the best setup no matter what Volvo you own.
And when it comes to aftermarket intakes the only one that is close to the stock setup is the BMC CDA which is mad exspensive.
They might all be restrictive as anything, however no one has made a better flowing design thusly it still makes it the best setup out there. IPD USA and EST's intake are short ram intake which are nice but suck in a lot of hot air.
BMC CDA's intake is better since it is fully enclosed, but by how much who knows.

Well, not to get into a pissing contest, but bragging about having the best heat soak design is not something to be proud of. If it was the best design out there, it wouldn't have the amount of heat soak it does. Again, my only point of referance is the R, but if it's this bad in the R, I can't see how it would be better in lesser (no offense implied) models.
And lets not get started on how unefficient the stock intercooler is...
