s70 turbo intake
I was wondering if i should remove some of the air box in my s70 t5. I want it to sound better however if I will lose HP then i wont. I only ask because i know it is really restrictive and also quiets it. I am also thinking about removing the pipe that brings heat from the exhaust to intake and running a new pipe from the box to let cool air in from this pipe. Im not looking at spending any money except for maybe a new filter because my cars old and falling apart and in 4 months im going to be in college and barely driving it. With a rough 160,xxx any investment isnt worth it on my car.

If he's not willing to spend much money he wont want to buy an EST intake.
To be honest if your only willing to buy an air filter just buy a cheap one and slap it on the end of your MAF. You wont have any heat shielding but hey your not willing to spend much money.
You will get the sound you want.

You will need a Torx screw driver, I forget which size.
1. Romove the MAF from the top of the airbox by using the torx screw driver and removing the two torx screws holding it in place.
2. Remove the top of the airbox.
3. Put the cone filter on the end of the MAF and tighten it down and lay it down inside the bottom of the airbox.
And your done.
Simple mod, no heat protection though. So you more then likely wont see any gains, you wil get a sound but you may loose power too.

A cone filter is just that a cone filter. How else are you going to get one unless you buy it? You going to steal it I doubt it.
If you don't know what a cone filter is, go to the K&\\;N website and look one up or even use GOOGLE to IMAGE search it sand type in CONE FILTER. You can get cheap ones for under $30 I believe at Advanced Auto Parts which is a auto parts store or other places like Pep Boys which is another auto parts store. Stock your car uses a panel filter. There is a difference.
1. A panel filter looks like a panel shaped filter.
2. A cone filter looks like a cone shaped filter.
They are disticntly different and you will know the difference once you see both of them.<\\;
