seems there is something missing here - did they measure the oil to see if the sensor is off or was the discussion on the nuance regarding the difference between the oil level sensor and the oil pressure sensor? Did they give advise on what to do should the low oil indicator light come on?
My perspective is the low oil level light is like an electronic dipstick. Its going to tell you when the engine oil level is below a threshold. Your car also has an oil pressure sensor which indicates a risk of damage to the engine. If your oil pressure light comes on - you should safely stop the engine immediately. If you have a low oil level light but the pressure light is off, you still have some protection - enough to go and service the car. If the oil level is severely low, you may see the oil pressure light come on momentarily going around corners or during hard braking or take a while to turn off after start up. If you see the oil pressure light come on even for a short while during driving, its time for immediate service to determine the cause.
