Hi all - I am new here and not at all car wise/handy with repairs etc. Was looking for a boxy old reliable volvo, liked the 240 based on my research. This will be a work commute car mostly. Have to pass on my '13 Civic to my son now and looking for something different/ old world (mid life crisis). I am in the Dallas area so not a lot of options to choose from in terms of old volvos. Found 3 options so far.

1. 1989 240 DL with 117k original miles, $3200 asking. Body is in excellent condition, new brakes including drums, new timing belt, all new accessory belts, new fuel filter, fuel regulator, cap, rotor, wires, plugs, air filter, air/conditioning compressor just replaced. Test drove it and liked it. CONS - power windows (all 4) do not work, overdrive does not engage/work, interior needs some work (center console broken, door handle broken etc.), engine noise a bit loud that I was told can be taken care of with a rubber gasket (?) of some sort that goes under the transmission (?). Asking price is 3200 but probably will come down slightly. Wondering if this is a good deal and how much would I have to spend fixing the windows etc. as stated above.

2. 1993 940, 100k miles, $3750 asking. Has air bags and ABS (the 89 does not), excellent/like new condition inside out from pics (have not tested yet).

3. 1991 240 DL, 166k miles, $1650 asking - Looks good (have not tested yet) with blue interior, not sure anything has been replaced recently (its a 1 person dealer op) but A/C not working and not diagnosed yet. Have been told worst case repair cost could run into couple thousand?

I really love the look of the 89 and 91 though. I am not very decisive and any advice will be greatly appreciated. Thanks.
