1st time Volvo owner
Hey folks, A friend at work is having a baby, and his in-laws are giving him and his wife their old Toyota Previa. The upshot of that is that he heard my sons, going to college, kinda needed a ride because we were racking up lots of miles on the family bus, running them to class and then carpooling to work ourselves. So he gave us his '91 240. Guy's a peach. It's got a wart or two. Needs brakes (driveway fix, no sweat), exhaust might have a hole or three (maybe same solution), and of course the AC appears to be both r-12 and empty. Ugh on that last bit. But the body is in fine, unblemished condition, all the windows work and really, c'mon - it's a free car! But this is my first Volvo. Kids will do the driving but I intend to keep up with the owning, and probably us this opportunity to drag the older kid (he's not into cars like the younger one) through the finer points of maintenance and upkeep. Anybody have any Volvo-specific details I should watch out for?

Thanks. I'm not a big shadetree mechanic but I know a few things - like, don't grab the ignition wires while it's running!
The wife is tickled. She likes the square, not-a-jellybean shape.
I've never driven a car that coasted so well. It's crazy, like everywhere I go there's a 20mph tailwind.
