2000 s80 t6
hey guys newb here. I have been wanting to purchase a 1999-2001 volvo S80 for some time now. something in realy nice shape for 8000-10000 bucks. today i found one i realy like however its got a salvaged tittle and the work has been profesionaly done. cant tell it had a fender bender. problem is they cant tell me one way or another if the airbags have been deployed or if so if they have been properly replaced. the car is absolutly perfect. drives straight as an arrow and the turbo works nicely. also there are a couple of codes showing i think one of them being the CAT. the price for this car 5000 dollars. should i get it? i want it but i also want to know the airbags work and im not sure what a cat would cost for this car. its a 2000. any ideas? im sure this is in the wrong section.. i planned to only introduce myself in here but....... anyway

Welcome to the forum, I hope you find it helpful.
Yes this is not the right forum to post inquiries but since this is your first post, don't worry. Next time when you have a question like this however, please post it either in Off Topic, General Volvo Chat or vehicle-specific forums.
I'm not sure what other memberswould say about the possible purchase, but I myself wouldn't spend $5,000-$10,000 on a car at a salvage yard without a precise damage descriptions.
I wish you the best of luck finding a decent Volvo.

Generally a salvage title is only going to hurt you if you plan on reselling the car at a later date. At that time you will probably get significantly less than book. Of course you are paying significantly less than book to buy the car also. If you plan on driving it for an extended period of time and everything checks out by a mechanic, then a salvage title is not a bad way to buy more car than you could normally have gotten for the same amount of money.
