First time volvo owner. I recently bought a 2000 S80 T6. Unfortunately, I didn't know about all the problems the 2000 has. I've had the ETM replaces twice in two months. Luckily not at my expense. I've also had to have a vacuum pump added to the brakes. They weren't holding in reverse. Have also added new software to supposedly help the ETM problem. Anyway, the car is running good now. Knock on wood. I have a question though. My friend has a 2003 S80 T6. It seems to really pull out of the hole quick. Will even sqeal the tires. My 2000 is a real dog out of the hole. Is that normal or should mine run better. Anyone know?

 

They are all different.Some go quick and others go slow.

 

That's a pretty vague answer. What I'd like to know is if the engine, turbo, tranny etc. is the same on the 2000 S80 T6 vs. 2003 S80 T6. Are the newer turbo's smaller and boost quicker? Does the engine have a different cam? Is the failing 2000 ETM different on the 2003?

 

Yes the throttle body setups are totally different between the 2000 and the 2003 cars.

The engines should be exactly the same. And the trans. to.

The older throttle body setups lack the quick response.
