I have joined the forum to hopefully make a decision on whether or not to keep and maintain my 2000 V70R AWD Wagon. Purchased it as the second owner in 2001 with about 29,000 mi. Title says it was a fleet car owned by a Volvo executive Claus Vander Hoden- Heedan or something! I Love this car- it's handling, performance at high speeds and especially in treacherous icy weather- nothing else I've driven has ever come close! My problem is I'm not a mechanic and feel I've already jumped the shark putting money into it because I love it! Friends are laughing: serviced by dealer all these years $$$$ ( but in fairness, I do get the Volvo old car courtesy discount) aside from the usual and customary, I've had new AC/compressor/condenser installed, new catalytic converter and new tires / alignment recently. It's got 182,000 now on the odometer and friends are saying that's more than the car is worth. Can anyone recommend a private Volvo expert mechanic in Central Jersey who could look it over and give me an opinion? Can anyone out there give me their expert opinion based on their experience? Don, if you are not mechanically inclined, cut bait and run. These cars are 14 years old and things at that mileage will continue to break at a rate of about $200 (dealer cost) per month. Give it one last hug and sell it.

On the other hand, if you can afford it, $2,400 per year is not all that bad to pay for a nice car. Where can get a car for $200 per month that will run like that?

 

That is a very concrete way to look such a decision. I like that.
