I just bought a used 2001 S40. I tried to get my emissions inspection here in Missouri and my car failed. They checked the onboard computer and many of the diagnostics did not have enough data to determine if it passed. The not-so-helpful folks at the emissions station refused to check the emissions through the manual methods. I'm confident this is an on-board computer issue as a software update was done on the car 25 miles before I bought it and I'm sure a check engine light would be on if there were six different emissions failures. Does anyone know how far this vehicle must be driven before the computer has enough data to evaluate the emissions?
