2001 Volvo S60 stolen want to replace the old ignition with a used one
Hi I am new to this group. I recently bought a 2001 Volvo S60 and and while having at work done at a friend's house I left the key in it and I got stolen. I recently recovered it a day later and a police impound lot with no key. Is it possible to go to the junkyard and get the full ignition along with the key and replace it with that?
Instead you should have a new key made to match your existing lock (order one from Volvo using your VIN) and have your car programmed to accept the new key. During that process have the memory of all other keys that are not in your possession removed from the CEM. The stolen/missing keys will not start the car after that.
Keep in mind if you replace the ignition lock your old key will still be needed to unlock the door, trunk or glove box.
