The key in my 2001 Volvo S60 will not turn at all. It goes in and will not turn like the steering wheel is locked, which obviously was my first thought to get the key to turn, but still nothing. I contacted the Volvo dealership which thought it sounded like a cylinder lock gone bad and quoted me at $600 some odd dollars to repair. If anyone can offer any insight, I would surely appreciate it! Thank you =]

 

Sorry to say but you pretty much have to go that route.
I have gotten some to work for a little bit tapping the key with a hammer easily and turning at the same time. But usually doesn't work for much longer.
