Trying to decide whether or not to replace transmission or sell the car. Mileage is 214,000 and we purchased it new in 2001. No accidents, engine rebuilt 10 years ago and it still looks great, inside and out. I carpooled my now grown kids in this car and I have an emotional attachment to it, which my husband does not have! He's been using the car for hauling wood, etc. and just as a backup vehicle. A transmission has been quoted at $3-4k and my husband has a buyer for $480!. I think that low amount is an insult!

What do you think we should do?

 

Nevermind! My husband sold it. Just heartbroken.
I just needed a glimmer of hope from someone here that it is worth saving and doable.
